What’s it like working at House?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Working at House is characterised by a strong team environment where employees form valuable relationships with both colleagues and customers. Staff appreciate the opportunity to work with quality products and find satisfaction in helping customers find the right items for their needs. The workplace culture is often described as supportive, particularly among immediate team members.

However, employees face certain challenges in their roles, including managing substantial workloads and frequent visual merchandising changes. The physical nature of the work, particularly during store layout changes and stock movements, can be demanding. Staff also note that communication from upper management could be improved, with some feeling that expectations can be challenging to meet within the allocated resources.

Would not recommend being a manager, unless you thrive off stress.
The good thingsThe staff that you worked with, the trial pieces of new products coming out.
The challengesThe amount of sale changes every week changing from one colour to another thinking this would boost sales, it honestly takes you away from serving customers and stocking the shelves. Customers are not silly they can see through the out dated sales tactics. Absolutely no career progression with this company your replaceable at any moment

    Overworked & Unachievable goals
The good thingsGreat friendships created with team members, great relationships with regular customers as well.
The challengesUnrealistic expectations, constantly overworked, given too many tasks but not enough staff or hours to complete the workload, very high pressure to complete tasks & make budgets but no tools given to help to achieve these. VM days are long & involve constant moving of heavy stock & stock deliveries.

Great environment to grow skills and muscles.
The good thingsThe people I worked with and learning about the products we sold. Changing the store around every sale change was fun too.
The challengesBeing promised a contract and not given one then made to do managerial duties for about a year with no contract while we waited for head office to hire a manager.
