Leadership, Team Culture and Risk Management ConcernsThe good thingsPositive aspects of the role include the opportunity to work collaboratively with a range of business units across the organisation, which supports broader relationship building, knowledge sharing, and a greater understanding of organisational priorities. The flexibility to work from home is also highly valued and contributes positively to work-life balance, productivity, and overall employee wellbeing.
The challengesManager provides limited guidance and direction to the team, resulting in inconsistent ways of working and a lack of alignment. There appears to be favouritism toward certain team members, which impacts team culture and morale. Professional boundaries have also been blurred, which is perceived as inappropriate and undermines trust within the team.
Teams operate in silos, with limited collaboration and information sharing. The Manager does not respond well to challenge or constructive feedback, which discourages open communication and healthy discussion. I felt concerns regarding limited people leadership capability, particularly in relation to team engagement, development, and fostering a positive culture. Snr Manager does not address issues raised and feel this undermines team members concerns.
Risk management activities are often unnecessarily overcomplicated, creating inefficiencies and making processes more difficult for Business Units to understand and apply effectively.
