What’s it like working at Vellex?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Employees appreciate the family business atmosphere at Vellex, which can feel welcoming and personal. Some value the consistent work and the opportunity to gain work experience, particularly early in their careers.

However, there are some potential challenges, including limited career progression and pay rises, with advancement opportunities appearing to favour those with close relationships to management. Workload distribution can be challenging, with additional responsibilities sometimes added without corresponding compensation increases. Additionally, systems and training opportunities could be modernised, and the fast-paced environment can be demanding in some roles.

Burnout culture and no career progress. HR is family-run.
The good thingsI left. Why? The culture workplace is like a mix of: Responsibility hand-off + burnout culture + low-trust management. In plain language: A workplace that relies on employee goodwill instead of fair structure. No matter your position you will feel the culture after a week or two from team leader to the office folks and the drivers. So it becomes survival mode. I gave push back and set boundaries and eventually left.
The challenges1. “Quiet Exploitation” This is the polite corporate version of “do more with less.” Signs: • Your end up with extra responsibilities but pay and title stay frozen in time • Management praises “team players” who pick up extra work • The expectation slowly becomes free labour Basically the position description never changes and neither does your hourly rate. 2. “Divide-and-Conquer Culture” When work gets dumped on someone else during leave. Management handle it like this: Too much work ↓ Give it to someone else temporarily ↓ Employees RESENT each other ↓ Management AVOIDS responsibility 3. “Low-Trust Management Culture” This comes from the HR and management behaviour: • Lack of transparency • Twisting arms to accept extra duties • Moving expectations after hiring Once trust breaks, the whole workplace starts running on survival mode instead of cooperation.
