What was a promising role that I started off enjoying turned into a nightmare
The good thingsLoved being a youth worker and supporting children in residential care, was well paid and flexible.
The challengesMoved into a management role and everything fell apart. No training for office staff, region was led by a coordinator’s personal feelings towards staff and consumers. Constantly felt like I was walking on eggshells and that the goal posts for doing a good job were being moved but received no constructive feedback or praise. Upper management was aware of this toxic work culture but chose not to do anything about it.
