What’s it like working at Save the Children?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Save the Children appreciate the meaningful and rewarding work, feeling genuinely inspired by the cause and the opportunity to make a difference in children's lives. Colleagues are described as committed, hard-working, friendly, and supportive, with many forming strong friendships. The organisation offers flexible working arrangements, including work from home options, and many employees report achieving excellent work/life balance with reasonable expectations. Professional development is encouraged and supported, with opportunities for training and career progression. Employees also value the autonomy to perform their roles and the generous salary packaging benefits available.

However, there are some potential challenges, such as management support being inconsistent in some areas, with concerns about communication and responsiveness to staff issues. Training and onboarding processes can be unstructured in certain programmes, and employees have requested more comprehensive initial support. Resource constraints are a reality of the non-profit sector, which can stretch teams and require creativity. Recruitment challenges in certain locations can lead to short-staffing, and some positions are offered on short-term contracts. Workload intensity can vary, with some roles requiring high levels of dedication.
