What’s it like working at Rivers?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Employees at Rivers appreciated the friendly and supportive colleagues, as well as the staff discounts on clothing and products. Some also valued the ability to have flexible hours to accommodate other commitments. However, common challenges included high workloads and being understaffed, with expectations to complete many tasks with limited hours and personnel. Several employees noted issues with management, such as poor communication, unrealistic expectations, and a lack of support. Maintaining a healthy work-life balance was also a challenge, with expectations to be on call constantly and work long hours. Looks good on your resume, but I would not recommend it for your own pockets and wellbeing.
The good thingsThe staff I work with are lovely, as well as most customers and interactions I have with customers on the daily. Able to have flexible hours with uni which I need.
The challengesLots of theft, being left alone for hours, management sucking up to difficult customers and going against policy, objected to awful treatment by customers over the VIP program from customers as well as prices in store. Also, decreased quality due to company cutting costs, refusing to hire when understaffed and using sweatshops in Myanmar, clothes not worth the price. Probably made way cheaper than what they’re priced at. Regional Manager always on staff about KPI’s with unreasonable standards. Earning $17.96 an hour as a 18 year old, while legal, absolute bare minimum wage for the work tasked to do.

    Not pleasant.
The good thingsIf you like their products, discount is available. This store was in a nice location/town.
The challengesThe store had no heating, bar heaters were provided, but it was a very large shed in a town that is in the Hills and has frost constantly in winter. It was not able to be heated even close to adequately and customers would have to leave. I sustained frost bite in my fingers and toes. Hourly phone conferences with RM interstate. Huge store only one team member working. Standalone location, limited support available when required. High theft. Huge levels of stock. Old stock in storeroom, years old.
