What’s it like working at Open Minds?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Employees value working with clients and appreciate their supportive colleagues who are friendly and professional. Many note that local management is caring and helpful, with flexibility in scheduling. The work is seen as rewarding and purposeful, with initial training provided and paid for.

However, there are some potential challenges, including inconsistency in management quality across different areas, communication difficulties with care leaders, and challenges maintaining work/life balance due to shift requirements. Systems and processes need improvement, staffing levels are stretched with high turnover, and some concerns exist about pay equity and managing challenging client behaviours.

High turnover of staff, those who stay have minimal experience in mental health outside the company.
The good thingsStaff are focused on community
The challengesToxic management. Lack of documented systems and processes. Under-skilled management without appropriate qualifications. Lack of supervision and professional meetings. Hostile toxic culture at the top which treats staff in a poor manner with nil regard for safety.

Make sure they pay you what you're worth.
The good thingsThe clients and fellow colleagues
The challengesA mix of good and bad here.. some good managers and other poor ones. Very unfair pay rates - some people overpaid and others underpaid. Make sure they don't railrad you into lower pay if you have the skills and experience. Make them pay you to industry standards as they often pay people with degrees and exoerience at SCHADS level 3.. People in the corporate side of the organisation are treated better than front line workers. Overall an OK place to work as most of my poor experiences related to one particular manager who was out of their depth. Otherwise the organisation seems to operate quite well.
