I recommend this job to anyone who has a passion for toxic work environments and hates themselves.
The good thingsI loved the team of women I worked alongside on the shop floor. My store manager cultivated a strong team of women who were kind, empathetic, strong, hard-working and had a team mentality. These are some of the most beautiful souls I have worked with and I will cherish the relationships I made here. If I felt respected in my role by higher management I would have loved to stay here. This was one of the best teams I have ever worked with.
The challengesHigher management uses unethical strategies to push staff members into unpaid roles that don't want and fear-mongering to meet unattainable KPIs. They do not value hard-working staff members and rarely show appreciation when you excel which creates an unhappy team. I asked for my incentive for a super sale for two months before I received it, despite them giving away new incentives to other staff members. They did not take customer stalking and customer abuse-related cases seriously, nor were we supplied with comprehensive safety training for emergency evacuations. Safety was never taken seriously despite our persistent pleas for a safe working environment in regards to toxic smells - which resulted in a team being sick for days and unsafe storage where boxes would collapse of staff members daily because the store was overstocked by at least over 100 boxes of shoes for months. There is a lot of nasty chat that goes on about staff members behind backs, issues that were never dealt with professionally and going to HR with issues was discouraged. Customers were constantly complaining about the quality of the shoes, I encourage you to read product reviews if you care about ethics and product quality.

The good thingsPositive and supportive culture and environment. Friendly teams and good opportunity in the Company.
The challengesThe lack of a hybrid work model / option to WFH a couple of days a week is a sticking point and something I think the company could do better. I think a lot of staff would stay a lot longer at the company if they had a more progressive policy on this that reflects what is normal in the industry now. Many staff move onto jobs with a hybrid option as the work life balance and general satisfaction improves.
