    Ok workplace.
The good things- Discount (40%) - If you get a good team it is a ball of fun. (rare) - Ok job to gain experience if it is your first role.
The challenges- KPI focus, heavily pushed onto managers and casual workers. - No empathy in regards to having quiet or "off" days (performance). - Management give no recognition when you decide to go above and beyond or when KPIs are achieved (it is expected). - Last minute changes from Head office in regards to upcoming sales. They give you a plan probably a few days in advanced let you complete sale prep and then send an email right before you're about to close and expect you to adapt and have completed before EOD. - Management favours certain people, the region I worked is found to be super cliquey. If you're not a people pleaser you are outcasted. - High turnover rate which stems from the attitude that anyone is replaceable. Most managers in my region have been in role less than a couple years. - Fearmongering culture, they assume that workers will be more motivated to achieve KPIs by micromanaging all workers in store (even if you're the store manager). - Fearmongering culture plays into poor work/life balance. They will expect you to get tasks done which you would need 4+ people to do with about half of the staff or by yourself. - If something goes wrong at work (eg. technical difficulties or incidents that prevent you from trading) they do not care about the welfare of their workers and immediately ask if the store is still able to trade rather than question if the people are ok. - The only real way to continue in this company is to say all the things that management want to hear, even if it is unrealistic and not possible. Other store managers do this to ensure their position in the company but sacrifice any morality or empathy for their staff. - No HR at this company which allows a lot of this dodgy behaviour to fly under the radar. - Once they do find someone who they deem is a "better fit" than you are, they will kick you to the side, micromanage you or cut hours to the point where you have to quit. - No opportunity for growth past store manager. Overall, working at Hype DC is good as a first job to gain experience in retail industry (as a casual). However, the cons most definitely outweigh the pros at this workplace. If you enjoy being underappreciated, undermined by not only regional managers but other store managers then this is a great job for you!

    A learning experience.
The good thingsThe team you’re with on a day to day basis, as well as discounts and customer base. I would definitely work here as a casual.
The challengesLow salary with a high demand. Mid management was difficult to work with however I believe the people who made things hard on my peers have since left.
