What’s it like working at Headspace?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Headspace stands out for its supportive and collaborative work environment, where employees value the strong team culture and friendly atmosphere. Staff particularly appreciate the meaningful work they do with young people in mental health services, along with professional development opportunities and supportive management. The organisation's commitment to youth mental health creates a purposeful working environment where many feel they can make a real difference.

However, the organisation faces some operational challenges, including resource constraints and funding limitations. Staff members note that while the work is rewarding, they often manage high workloads within a complex organisational structure. The remuneration tends to be lower compared to similar roles in other organisations, particularly for day shifts and contractor positions.

Do not recommend in any way.
The good thingsSometimes there were okay budgets for professional development.
The challengesManagement is very removed from what is happening with delivery of services. Management is very removed from the team as a whole. Significant division between teams, intake team very much prioritized by management. Nepotism is rife, staff are pushed out of the organization who question and query best practice and raise ethical concerns. Initially this will seem like a wonderful place to work, quickly it is apparent that what is said and offered is not congruent with the support actually provided. Management talks a big game of support, honesty respect and collaboration, though behind closed doors speak DISGUSTINGLY about staff and often have a scapegoat to distract from the systemic issues coming from management. It is common for staff to feel scared to raise concerns or even move on to another job due to the types of behaviour and slander witnessed firsthand when people do raise concerns or move on from the organization.

A place where I felt comfortable to develop as a new clinician in the mental health sector
The good thingsSuch a supportive environment. Staff and management are very approachable and very open to any ideas, suggestions or issues you may be having. Definitely the first time I have had this much support from management.
The challengesAs with most organisations, it feels like processes are moving slowly at times. But ultimately you know you have the organisations support and that it will happen.
