What’s it like working at Channel 7?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Employees at Channel 7 appreciate working with good colleagues who are friendly, supportive, and willing to help. The company provides a creative environment where employees can work with like-minded individuals. Additionally, Channel 7 offers good benefits to employees, such as free tickets to local events, paid taxis for late shifts, and fruit boxes.

However, there are some potential challenges. Some employees have experienced challenges with the work culture, including inappropriate behaviour, gossip, and a lack of inclusivity. Maintaining a healthy work-life balance can be difficult, with long hours, tight deadlines, and expectations to stay back when needed. There are also concerns about management, with issues such as lack of communication, poor direction, and a reluctance to address equipment failures or provide training opportunities. Additionally, some employees feel that there are limited opportunities for career progression, with a tendency to outsource jobs and a lack of internal hiring.

The worst working environment and conditions that I've ever worked at. It's a shame that such an important media company would treat its employees so poorly. I would gladly advise any one considering working for Channel 7 or its affiliates to stay clear from them.
The good thingsThere's are always good people that you work alongside in any organisation.
The challengesTreated poorly by other colleagues Toxic work culture, colleagues treating others poorly, inappropriate comments by fellow colleagues, misogyny, low pay and long hours, no career prospects.

Will never forget the great things I've accomplished at Channel 7. I've worked with some truly great people. Unfortunately its not a great opportunity to start out in news. And I've been kicked to the curb.
The good thingsWorking with a close knit team of excellent reporters and camera operators. There are many issues working within regional news. Equipment often fails resulting in stressful days and news stories getting out late. Management refused to accept this and would blame camera operators instead.
The challengesI enjoyed meeting new people everyday and getting to use an ENG camera, which has always been a dream of mine. There were many challenging nights with our edit system failing. Management refused to accept this and blamed us operators.
