What’s it like working at Bendon?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Bendon offers several positive aspects that employees value, including generous staff discounts and sales perks that make the role more rewarding. The company benefits from having supportive colleagues at the store level, and many appreciate the training opportunities provided. Staff also express satisfaction with the quality of products and working with well-known brands in the industry.

However, employees identify areas for improvement, particularly regarding communication from senior management to stores and the need for better support structures, especially in regions without local office presence. Some staff members note that career development opportunities could be enhanced, and there is room for improvement in workload organisation and distribution across the company.

Chill place to work, until it's not
The good thingsYou get a great staff discount, and it's even better since you're allowed to hold things for yourself. I got lucky with my store because I have a great manager and co-workers. I like the sense of community it brings when you have good customers.
The challengesThat being said, some customers can be really demanding and entitled which is guaranteed in retail but this is a different kind. The higher ups have terrible communication - my onboarding documents took forever to come through, and even then not everything was sent. Pay is also min-wage which should genuinely be raised because of all the things they expect you to do by yourself ie merchandising the store, doing stock, etc. My store is also shutting down, and they didn't offer transfers.

Not worth the effort and the stress for low wages.
The good thingsDiscounts on full price products.
The challengesToxic culture and toxic management. A lot of pressure from head office and CEO on managers and store managers. Unpaid extra hours. Very low pay for assistant manager and managers.

Great discounts online working there however very school yard environment. A lot of staff left due to feeling targeted by other staff.
The good thingsThey used to be very family orientated and cared about their staff and you used to feel like part of a company not just a $ sign for corporate.
The challengesAs staff left and roles changed instead of actually hearing the staff concerns they made judgements and punished staff first which was awful.
