Statement regarding the Proactive Compliance Deed between the FWO and BaiadaBaiada believes it has a moral and ethical responsibility to require standards of conduct from all entities and individuals involved in the conduct of its enterprise, that:a) Comply with the law in relation to all workers at all of its sites, andb) Meet Australian community and social expectations, to provide equal, fair and safe work opportunities for all workers at all of its sites.Prior to the release of the Baiada Report, Baiada had commenced instituting changes to the contracting and subcontracting arrangements it had previously used to engage its contracted labour force (comprising less than 20% of its workers), due to its concerns that those arrangements were not stringent enough and that more needed to be done to ensure that the contract workers on its processing plant sites were not vulnerable to exploitation, including by way of underpayment.Baiada has and will continue to implement fundamental, permanent and sustainable changes to its enterprise, because Baiada agrees that, for all workers, on all of its sites, Commonwealth Workplace Laws including the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) (FW Act), Fair Work Regulations, and Fair Work Instruments, should be fully complied with.Source: This is an extract from the company’s own website.

Poor Management make the environment hostile.
The good thingsThere are no good things.
The challengesMy experience working at Baiada Poultry was extremely disappointing. Management was very poor, with little to no structure or leadership. There was no formal on-site training provided for any of the roles I held, which made it difficult to properly understand expectations or perform tasks efficiently. On top of that, there were no clear or formal job descriptions, so responsibilities constantly shifted without clarity or support. The office environment was also quite hostile, with staff often throwing each other under the bus instead of working as a team. Considering the level of responsibility expected, the salary offered was also well below what would be reasonable for the work being performed. Overall, it felt like a very disorganized workplace with a negative culture and little support for employees.

Extra scrutiny and responsibility if you're not in the clique
The good thingsEasy and simple work with plenty of roles to learn and abundant overtime. Great job if you can stay under the radar.
The challengesComplicated by a tight-knit clique of middle managers who scapegoat a revolving door of earnest workers to justify their bad planning, lack of communication and nepotistic laziness.
