What’s it like working at ATSICHS?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees consistently praise the strong team culture at ATSICHS, highlighting welcoming and supportive colleagues who work collaboratively. Staff appreciate the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the Indigenous community and value that their culture is recognised and respected. The organisation offers good work/life balance with flexibility, along with opportunities for career development and on-the-job training. Many employees feel well supported through regular, strengths-based supervision.

However, there are some areas for potential improvement. Some employees have noted that management approaches can vary across the organisation, with a desire for more consistent leadership practices. Competing priorities and high caseloads can be challenging to manage, particularly during periods of rapid organisational growth. A few staff members have mentioned that communication from upper management could be enhanced, and there have been observations of staff turnover during times of organisational change. Some employees have also expressed interest in having more opportunities for creative and innovative approaches to their work.

Before starting at ATSICHS, I didn’t realise how strong and supportive the team culture would be.
The good thingsBefore starting at ATSICHS, I didn’t realise how strong and supportive the team culture would be. I expected the role to be more individual and task‑focused, but I was pleasantly surprised by how welcoming and supportive colleagues are from the start. Regular supervision is done in a supportive, strengths‑based way, and training is provided to help staff feel confident and supported in their roles. This, along with the respect for cultural values and flexibility, has made the workplace very different to what I expected—in a positive way.

    I enjoy working with ATSICHS
The good thingsIt has great work life and home life balance, I get to work with a great team and make a difference in the Indigenous Community.
The challengesImprovement would be Sharing of information or training to further understand the government organisations e.g. Centrelink, housing Dept, or NDIS that our clients may need to depend on to help their situations, the more information we have, the more information we can share to help our clients get real assistance. What I meant by this is not just referring them to Government organisations and send them off with paperwork or full clarifications of next steps. I may explain this wrong. I don't just want to throw paperwork at clients and send them on their way maybe back to organisations they may have already approached that have given them paperwork and they have hit a brick wall, I would like to help them scale that wall and get results.
