The challengesIncompetent people who have risen to top management have no clue on business operations and run the company like a bank. High levels of staff frustration due to drafting work outsourced to India with no supervision, extremely poor quality of work. Junior staff who recently hired keep enjoying promotions while staff who have been in the company for long time are ignored and zero career advancement. Expect to work very long hours with no compensation. High staff turnover as they get burned out. Pay all interstate trips with your own money, no budget for travel, training, courses, the list goes on and on.

The challengesMy experience was a little dissapointing in that due to the circumstances of having 2 different supervisors i was getting conflicting and inconsistent feedback on assigned tasks. This ultimately caused me to lose confidence and resign prior to course completion. A real pity as i had great hopes for this job.
IP should be aware that whilst it is often hiring experienced technical people for patent examiner roles, they are being introduced to new legal concepts. If they are being provided invonsistent feedback then it can cause the trainee to question themselves causing a profound loss of confidence.
