At Smiggle, we believe the world is more wonderful than people sometimes remember. What’s it like working at Smiggle?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Employees appreciate their friendly and supportive colleagues, who make the work environment more enjoyable. Staff also value interacting with customers, especially excited children, and enjoy the fun products Smiggle sells. The staff discounts across different brands are a welcomed benefit.

However, there are some potential challenges, including concerns about upper management and regional managers being unsupportive and micromanaging. Many employees mention minimal or no training, limited hours and shifts, and being expected to work alone for extended periods. The workload and KPIs can be demanding, particularly during peak seasons, and some note that career progression opportunities may be limited.

Toxic enviroment that won't help you when you need it
The good thingsThe discount is not worth it
The challengesThe amount of issues that should have been solved that weren't are disgusting. Letting staff get away with truly reprehensible behaviour simply because it was too difficult to deal with. If you dont make friends with the right people you will have a truly difficult time

Wouldn't work this job again, even out of desperation.
The good thingsThe other staff were nice, everyone knows how rough the job is so it's a shared struggle.
The challengesThe management. I know everybody says it, but really, the management. Your store manager will generally be nice, but anyone above that is awful. Upper management, especially Regional Managers, are overwhelmingly petty, passive aggressive, rude, and disrespectful. The expectations for staff, KPIs etc, even at smaller stores with low trade, are way too high and are pretty unreasonable. The company believe in the silent firing method, so you will just stop getting shifts if someone above you has a grudge. They will often either hire someone to replace you, or you'll see a job listing for your store a month after. I personally also received little to no real training, mostly learning little bits and pieces from other casuals, and was questioned why I didn't know things (gee I wonder). They will also constantly try to have you interacting in group chats outside of work hours. You'll get better work and better treatment working just about anywhere else.

Horrible job, DO NOT WORK HERE!
The good thingsThe customers and my team ❤️
The challengesHonestly everything, there is an insane amount of internal b#llying from upper management and managers. It started great but as soon as you switch against the ‘main clique’ your work life will become horrible. I experienced quite a few deaths while working here and none were met with sympathy, I instead had to work MULTIPLE 12 hour shifts while mourning the loss of loved ones, I had to allow certain workers, my boss and equals disrespect me on multiple occasions. The only good thing that came with this were my customers who I love and adore and my VM manager ❤️❤️
