What’s it like working at Sephora?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Employees appreciate the supportive and friendly team environment at Sephora, with colleagues often feeling like family. The generous staff discounts and gratis are highly valued, alongside regular brand training and exposure to diverse beauty products. Many employees highlight opportunities for career progression and the company's inclusive culture that celebrates individuality.

However, there are some potential challenges, including inconsistent management quality across locations and pressure to meet KPIs without commission. The fast-paced retail environment can be demanding during busy periods, and shift allocation may be inconsistent, particularly after peak seasons. Some employees also note that initial training can be brief and customer interactions during high-volume periods require resilience.

Can be alright sometimes, only if you have good coworkers
The good thingsGratis (gifts from companies), long lunch break
The challengesThe management needs lots of work. This company has taken micro managing to the max. Employees should be treated with more respect. management likes to constantly monitor and yap in your ear radio if you look like you aren’t doing something for even one minute. Very lazy management team, they are very slow to sort out basic things like preparing the necessary tools for you to work with (brushes, phones etc). They also don’t take complaints seriously , so good luck if there is a coworker who is treating you poorly. Training basically doesn’t exist, you follow someone around for a shift and get sent off on your own. Work environment can be very fake and catty at times with coworkers. There is pressure to meet KPIs but you don’t even get commission or rewards so theres no motivation or incentive. And when there is an incentive, it’s not worth extreme effort to reach. Rostering also is inconsistent and part timer peers have a lot of 4 hour shifts in random times of the day.

    You are never enough
    The good things30-45% staff discount.
The challengesManagement is super pushy with KPI targets. Constant new “incentives” pushing sales. Very unachievable “games” or competitions every day, it’s so overwhelming. No matter how hard you try they keep introducing new kpis and by the time you remember the 20 + steps you have to do with every customer now, you are so overwhelmed and flustered. Very very pushy with devices and skin scans even though they do not work and machines is super inaccurate, as well as takes 10 times longer to help your client. Not ideal when we are flooded daily and understaffed. Just trying to manage our time and hit our targets but it’s never enough. Feel extremely undervalued.
