What’s it like working at Red Energy?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Employees appreciate the modern office facilities in Richmond's excellent location, the friendly and supportive colleagues from diverse backgrounds, and the pet-friendly workplace policy. The flexible working arrangements, including work-from-home options and casual dress code, along with staff discounts on energy bills and incentive programmes, are valued benefits.

However, there are some potential challenges, including inconsistent management support when dealing with complex issues, an intensive focus on KPIs and performance metrics, and pay levels below industry average. Some employees have noted limited recognition for achievements and find the demanding call centre environment can be draining, whilst career progression opportunities may vary across teams.

RUN, run far away - bad over all job
The good thingsAwesome coworkers all are brilliantly awesome and that the only positive If you value your mental heath I would not even apply!
The challengesMy experience was very different from how the role was presented during recruitment. Although the job was described as positive and customer-focused, I felt that profit often came before fair customer outcomes. I also experienced limited support from managers and senior staff. When employees were dealing with pressure, difficult customers or workplace problems, we were often left to manage those situations largely on our own. In my experience, managers were not consistently available when support was needed. This was particularly frustrating because staff were still expected to meet targets and maintain performance standards, even when there was limited management support. The lack of visible leadership and accountability affected morale and contributed to a stressful environment. Over all this job is not worth your time or effort! leaving is the best answer for everyone, that is why they are constantly hiring new people because no one wants to stay.

Seriously underpaid for a very regulated, highly complex job with extreme micromanagement
The good thingsCasual clothes. Able to turn up to work as you are. Good youth culture. Many young people there. Great facilities on premises. Vending and coffee machines. Huge lunchroom with games etc.
The challengesTerrible pay for the complexity of the role. Insanely regulated with everything. Not only with the information you deliver to customers but also in your every day work life. Very long classroom training. Gradings on every single call. Extreme micromanagement with every minute accounted for and consequences otherwise. People saying it takes 6 to 12 months to finally feel comfortable in the job. Dogs a distraction for the real issues underneath.

Difficult , stressful , mentally exhausting
The good thingsDiscounted electricity and extra leave . Working from home
The challengesWhen I first started in this role I was happy with a great supportive manager. Things turned sour once I changed teams. The environment and the way I was treated became quite toxic. They pushed so hard for KPI’s . They were not supportive or inclusive of me despite preaching that they are. It’s already quite difficult to work in a call centre but the attitude of management and HR ( who are only there to support the company ) made it far more difficult . I was mocked by one of the coaches when I first started as well . The list could go on.
