What’s it like working at Myer?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees appreciate the friendly and supportive colleagues they work with on the shop floor, with many noting that team members are the highlight of working at Myer. The staff discount is valued as a benefit, and employees enjoy the opportunity to develop retail skills through customer interactions and varied daily tasks.

However, there are some potential challenges, including irregular shift patterns with hours that can fluctuate significantly and occasional short-notice cancellations, particularly after busy periods. Communication with management can be inconsistent, and some employees find it difficult to receive feedback or connect with managers. Staffing levels on the shop floor can be stretched at times, and training for new staff may be limited. Additionally, opportunities for permanent employment and career progression can be limited for casual employees, and some have noted that the workplace culture can be cliquey. The pay structure is based on an agreement rather than an award, which may result in different rates for weekend and public holiday work.

Too much chatter not enough working Not enough staff on the shop floor to help customers. Staff members attached to the registers for their sales. Staff members unfairly taking your sales even after you did the hardwork on the floor. Management untouchable and unfriendly unless they liked you. Too many clicks
