Don't ignore the warning signs flashing like a Christmas tree in a power surge. The good thingsThe initial interview was conducted professionally and the team members I met were welcoming.
The challengesThe main challenge was the silence following the interview — two follow‑up emails received no reply at all, and the eventual outcome arrived more than a month later. The reason given for being unsuccessful (that another applicant’s skills were more closely aligned) didn’t match the criteria in the re‑advertised role posted the very next day, which stated no neuro experience was required as full training would be provided. This merely confirmed for me that the whole process was less than transparent.
I also wasn’t informed that the organisation had entered administration, which I only found out during the interview. Had I been aware of this before the interview, it could have saved me the trouble of driving halfway around the moon to get to the interview.
The combination of unanswered emails, shifting explanations, and important information not being mentioned may be worth applicants considering carefully.
