What’s it like working at Kane Constructions?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Kane Constructions offers a well-established and structured work environment with engaged management providing clear direction. The company maintains a social atmosphere through regular team events and gatherings, fostering a sense of community among employees.

However, employees should be prepared for the demands of the construction industry, including extended working hours particularly during project completion phases. The company's unique internal systems require time to master, and some employees note that compensation packages may not always reflect the industry standard or account for additional hours worked.

The good thingsThe Christmas party and quarterly get together are okay if you like a drink.
The challenges50+ hour work weeks are the norm, with the expectation of more as projects come to a close, don't expect this to be reflected in remuneration. Zero support from Directors, lip service only. Will be thrown under a bus at the first opportunity for personal gain. Business will tell the client one thing, and then do the opposite once the client turns away. Directors will say anything you want to hear in order to get you to join the business, but will not follow through. Promises of travel allowance or being given sites within a reasonable travel distance will be made, only for the expectation that you are on site 100km from your home for 10+ hours a day. Management expected to be on site before crew start, after they leave and even when the site is closed for RDOs. Pay is not on par with other businesses, especially when considering the hours required. Based on industry, salary is about 30% less than competitors, with the promise that it will improve with time.

The challengesKane has a particular way of doing things which includes the spreadsheets and programs that have been developed inhouse which can be very difficult to get your head around.
