What’s it like working at Flick Anticimex?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Employees appreciate the supportive and friendly team environment at Flick Anticimex, with approachable management who are invested in employee success and wellbeing. The company offers strong training and development, clear career progression opportunities, and good work/life balance with flexible scheduling. Many employees value the positive company culture and the autonomy that comes with working independently.

However, there are some areas for improvement, including management consistency across different locations and communication between departments during busy periods. The recent implementation of new scheduling and reporting software has presented a learning curve, though ongoing improvements are being made. Some employees have noted that hands-on training opportunities could be more structured, and workload demands can be challenging during peak times.

My experience was very different from the image presented in the company's recruitment ads.
The good thingsI was already an experienced pest control technician when I joined the company. The role allowed me to apply my existing knowledge and skills, but unfortunately, I did not experience any meaningful professional development beyond what I already knew.
The challengesMy biggest disappointment was the lack of practical training in termite inspections and treatments. I joined as an experienced pest control technician, hoping to develop specialist termite skills. Despite completing the theoretical training, I struggled to gain the field experience required for my qualification. I repeatedly requested hands-on training, but no consistent development plan materialised. The gap between the company's career development image and my actual experience was disappointing. I eventually decided to pursue my goals elsewhere. My advice to future employees: Ask for a clear training plan and realistic timelines, not just verbal assurances.

DONT WALK, RUN FROM THIS PLACE!!!!
The good thingsWe were part of an acquisition, we were promised the world. Then management out of Bendigo wanted a say.
The challengesWhere to start, after failing in many other acquisitions such as Horsham, Go Pest and Ballarat. Bendigo Management wanted another notch on the belt I suppose and has completely destroyed another one. We were 14 techs strong and now just a few remaining with the rest applying for other jobs. Completely destroying everything that we have built over the years. They also get staff to post fake reviews to try and keep the rating up.

    Mentally & emotionally draining.
The good thingsMet some good people. New regional trainer will go above and beyond to help.
The challengesRevolving door for staff, there’s a reason for that. Management are not supportive and are very hard to communicate with. Training is awful, all due to the management team, not the training providers. you’ll learn something and then told later down the line that’s not how to do it by the same person. Management will decide to change how things are done and not inform anyone, but it’s your fault if you didn’t know the new process. That’s if you’re even shown how to do it in the first place. Gaining knowledge to do your job properly is like pulling teeth. Many people are self taught or relying on colleagues, not management. God forbid you ask management for help or advice, treated poorly if you do and may not even get a response. Branch management team will speak poorly of staff in front of their colleagues. If a previous employee posts an accurate 1 star review of the company on Seek, staff will be asked to post a 5 star review to make up for it.
