What’s it like working at Detector Inspector?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Employees appreciate the work/life balance at Detector Inspector, with regular hours, RDOs, and flexibility. The company promotes a multicultural environment with strong diversity and inclusion initiatives. Supervisors and team members are supportive and willing to help, and field workers enjoy the autonomous nature of their roles when meeting customers.

However, there are some potential challenges, such as upper management being out of touch with field workers' perspectives and communication gaps. Some employees have noted that resources and equipment could be improved, including work vehicles and warehouse supplies. Training and development opportunities are limited, with a need for more structured feedback and career progression. Additionally, scheduling and bookings require improvement, and the repetitive nature of some roles can become monotonous over time.

Truly dehumanising and awful experience. I would write more feedback if there wasn’t a limit to it
The good thingsFuel card and company car during the fuel crisis was helpful. That’s it. (even though the car had a month old smooshed banana engrained in the passenger seat, dried up tomato sauce on the cup holders/gear stick area and a packet of cheap cigs in the glove box). I’ll write more honest feedback below as I still have some character spare for this section. • When joining, an agreed “45 min max” drive was implemented for driving to the first job of the day so you’re not using up too much of your own time in the morning. I genuinely don’t know how many times i’ve had to drive OVER an hour to get to my first job, even having to drive up to an hour and 40 minutes. That’s using my own time that i’m not paid for. • During my workdays, it’s very often that i’ll be driving to a job/agency, just to then arrive and check my app and see that the Phillipines have completely changed my day and the direction I was meant to go in. • QLD Supervisor’s communication is non-existent, never replying
The challenges• Terrible management (at least the QLD supervisor was) one of the highlights being that I was told i’m the person with the most problems/issues he’d ever met (I had a severe medical episode and was forced to take a few days off). • Outdated overseas communications team that have no idea what Australian traffic and roads are like, have EXTREMELY limited english (to the point you can’t even get an extremely basic point across clearly), which they also are in charge of the rostering and without warning or acceptance they’ll add additional jobs onto your day when you don’t have any time spare as it is. • Driving around in an MG3 while hauling 5 boxes of stock, ladder and extensions, toolbelt and tools doesn’t work all that well (surprise). • If for any reason you’re needing to leave work just a few hours early, even 1.5 hours, a medical certificate is required no matter what. (I’d spend the same amount of money on the med cert that I earned for working the day). DO NOT WORK HERE

The challengesEverything. Service managers are useless, further works manager is extremely rude, always blames people above him for everything, never answers a phone call, further works field manager is just as useless, in-competent, doesn't know the wiring rules. Don't forget!!! You don't get LONG SERVICE LEAVE HERE.
