What’s it like working at Cosmetics Plus?

AI summary of recent reviews

Cosmetics Plus offers a positive workplace environment characterised by strong team relationships and an energetic atmosphere. Employees particularly value the staff discounts and appreciate the training opportunities provided, including specialised training in areas such as piercing. The workplace culture is often described as fun and engaging, with many employees forming strong bonds with their colleagues.

However, employees have identified areas for potential improvement, including the need for more structured career advancement opportunities and better communication channels with upper management. The unpredictable working hours and scheduling can present challenges for some staff members, while there are opportunities to enhance the consistency of training programs, particularly for specialised services.

The good thingsMost of the people I worked with in store were lovely.

The challengesThis company is extremely negligent when it comes to the health and safety of it's customers and staff alike. Piercers receive very little training and I sustained a needle stick injury due to the negligence of another employee. I was offered no support or even acknowledged after the incident.

Not bad, but not great either.

The good thingsNice store manager and staff, nice looking shop. Good discounts if that's what you're into. I liked the uniform policy of wearing all black.

The challengesNever knowing how many hours work you will get each week, and often not getting any at all. Poor communication. A lack of practical policies and procedures in some areas of the business. No way of contacting or providing feedback to management, or upper management when needed. Some (not all) of the training wasn't good. Staff haven't been taught how to train properly or effectively, and sometimes get thrown into the roll of training others before they've even properly obtained the right knowledge and experience for what they're doing themselves. You'd expect a company the size of Cosmetics Plus to have a better training program in place for piercing, and better methods for some of the stuff they do.
