The good thingsNew centre and new rooms
The challengesMy experience as a casual educator was not particularly positive. I found the workplace environment unfriendly at times, with some established small groups/management making casual educators feel less included.

Run! Hundreds of daycare in Canberra, definitely not this one!
The good thingsKids and some parents are fine.
The challengesMy experience at Watson ECEC was extremely challenging. I found the management style overly controlling, with limited openness to staff concerns. I was also disappointed with HR support, as I felt HR largely sided with centre management rather than independently considering employees’ concerns.

A genuinely happy vibe going to work each day!
The good thingsThe staff. Even upper management are always approachable and listen respectfully to their staff. Great opportunities for career progression and secondments to learn new roles. The company values staff input and ideas. Culturally diverse and safe. People genuinely enjoy the work they do and make a difference to vulnerable people in the community. Great training and networking opportunities.
The challengesThe biggest challenges I have faced whilst working here, is working in conjunction in a consortium with other community organisations and trying to make programs run cohesively. Feeling powerless when things go wrong and it is due to an external organisations error, but then comes back on us to have to manage.
