Best company I have ever worked for!
The good thingsWorking as a support worker with this company has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The organisation genuinely puts participants first while also valuing its staff. The team is supportive, management is approachable, and there are plenty of opportunities to develop new skills. Every day is different, and it's a privilege to help people achieve greater independence.

Not respected, ignored, either no hours or so many it’s not safe.
The good thingsThe clients have always been amazing
The challengesManagement is unsupportive. Hours are unpredictable and done in such a way that it makes getting a second job difficult. They don’t respect their staff and wonder why they lose good people even clients are upset.

Great clients, but a toxic workplace culture focused on favouritism and staff conflict.
The good thingsThe clients are absolutely the best part of working there and many of them are wonderful people who make the role rewarding. Unfortunately, the workplace environment at times felt more focused on staff competing for favouritism and roster preferences rather than teamwork and supporting each other. There often seemed to be a culture of employees dragging one another down to get ahead, which created unnecessary tension in what should be a supportive industry.
The challengesI worked for Challenge in disability support for the SIL house in Muswellbrook and found the workplace culture very difficult. Communication from management often felt confrontational rather than supportive, and rostering practices are inconsistent and unfair, with favouritism evident. Staff morale seemed low, with frequent turnover and ongoing tension within the team. One of my biggest concerns was the pressure placed on support workers while still expecting high-quality care for vulnerable clients. In my experience, concerns raised by staff were not handled professionally, which created unnecessary stress in an already demanding industry. There are some genuinely caring support workers employed there, but management practices and workplace culture made the role emotionally exhausting. I hope the organisation focuses more on staff wellbeing and a environment based on fairness and equality.
