Worst job experience. The good thingsGetting to play games sometimes and seeing some cool games and tech was fun, and there were a few good people amongst the staff.
The challengesCompared to most other retail jobs, the pay was pretty poor, which is worse considering there’s extra things involved in this job compared to normal retail, including customers being aggressive and threatening etc more frequently due to the nature of the job. Upper management also expect assistant and store managers to work unpaid overtime every day, and there are a lot of daily expectations for all staff which some days is extremely unrealistic and super stressful to try and get through.
Very little training and then managers getting mad when you don’t know what to do or make a mistake due to the lack of training, frequently had to ask managers from other stores across the country how to do things even though it’s not their job to teach that.
Horrible toxic culture within the company, with many incidents and people that needed to be reported to hr, but due to rude or no responses, many people didn’t bother trying to report anymore, and a lot of targeted behaviour as a result.
