What’s it like working at Busways?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Employees value the camaraderie amongst colleagues and supportive team culture at Busways, with particular praise for the excellent training programme. Drivers enjoy the variety of work, including charters and seeing different parts of Sydney, whilst office staff appreciate flexible working arrangements and remote work options.

However, there are some operational considerations, including an ageing bus fleet with maintenance issues, demanding shift patterns that can span 12-hour periods, and pay rates that may require overtime to be competitive. Some employees note that management approaches and communication styles vary, and dealing with challenging passenger interactions can be demanding. Facilities and equipment at some depots could benefit from modernisation.

Don't bother as you will regret it.
The good thingsDriving the bus and seeing different things every day
The challengesMicromanagement obsessed with statistics and spreadsheets. No clue how to deal with drivers. When Busways took over there was an immediate change in attitude - office staff that should have stayed were sacked, office staff that should have been sacked stayed. Busways entire focus is to make everything look shiny and new to give the impression of being well maintained and efficient instead of being useful. Got rid of perfectly good lockers big enough to store spare jackets as well as your outfit box and replaced them with little ones that have no room for anything. No reason given - they are just nasty. Installed a shiny new outdoor refuelling station when the previous refuelling station was under cover is another example. No thought to the staff that fuel the buses and are out in all weathers. No backup when you are on the road. If something happens you are on your own no matter what Busways claim. No interest in stopping fare evasion.
