Great company, very supportive and good processes in place to ensure steady work.
The good thingsVery supportive management and very forgiving when you're learning.
The challengesWork not always steady. A bit hit and miss.

    Good for a law student
The good thingsInteresting work. Good feedback from the QA team. You get to decide your hours for each week.
The challengesA lot of poor audio. Pay was fine but could be higher; a lot of effort is required to ensure high accuracy and you are entirely responsible for equipment, maintenance of hardware, etc. Style guide could have been clearer, but was not majorly difficult to follow.

Don't Apply Here Unless You're Desperate
The good thingsListening to interesting court cases
The challengesIncompetent, uncaring and unsupportive management. Extremely low pay. Toxic culture. Constant pressure to type more words per hour at over 98.25% accuracy even when a lot of the audio is poor and speakers mumble. Management has no experience with audio transcribing. Very high pressure job with extremely unrealistic expectations from management and the low pay does not compensate for this at all. No wonder there is such a high turnover of employees.

One of the best places I've ever worked when it comes to team environment and self improvement
The good thingsAbility to learn with the role and build new things. with a supportive and highly skilled team to back you who give great feedback for self improvement.
The challengesSuper broad skillset required, which means a huge learning curve if you're not already quite diverse. makes the job more rewarding in the long run

If culture and being valued is important to you, don't work here.
The good thingsFlexible work offered. Meaningful work.
The challengesToxic culture. Staff treated as numbers. Inexperienced management. Low pay. Limited technology.

Dead end job with no opportunity and no reward, don't value their staff as you can easily be replaced.
The good thingsLunch breaks and leaving.
The challengesTraining and development. Progression of career. Management cliques.

Only if you're desperate for work.
The good thingsThe work itself - transcribing court cases - is interesting.
The challengesPoor/inadequate training for what is complex work, terrible management from people who have never actually done transcribing themselves, unfriendly work environment, high pressure, and a low hourly pay rate that doesn't compensate for the complexity and pressure.

    Toxic management
The good thingsTyping court hearings is interesting
The challengesManagement have no communication skills. You are expected to teach yourself absolutely everything and if you experience any complications in relation to IT or system related issues you are expected to deal with the problem yourself. There is a lot of personal commitment and time invested on your side with little to no gain. The money is shockingly poor. Their advertisements sound great to get you in but it doesn't take long to realise what you have in fact signed up for.

The role is great, but there's big problems here.
The good thingsThe work itself is really interesting.
The challengesIt's like a secret squirrel society, people are here one day and mysteriously gone the next. Existing staff don't associate with new staff because', "we don't know if you'll be here tomorrow''. With voice to text coming in, expect more redundancies. Training is completely inadequate with KPI and expectations this high.

    Not Worth It
The good thingsListening to court cases.
The challengesOffice management is poor, expected to do remote training with unsupportive people from the Queensland office, low pay for the amount of work expected. Walked away from this job very deflated.

Pretty lousy, but if you're hurting for work it's a paying job
The good thingsConvenient location, flexibility for people who 'click' with management.
The challengesFickle and incompetent management, work to pay ratio is very poor, response to covid-19 was atrocious.

    Sadly a disappointing workplace
The good thingsThe only good thing about this place was the supervisor who actually cared about her staff.
The challengesPoor audio, extremely low pay for the effort required, extremely rigid and uncaring management, and forced to type multiple jurisdictions of challenging content each with a complicated and lengthy style manual, non-transparent management.

Horrendous culture and lack of management’s support

Interesting work that served a very important need.
The good thingsExcellent opportunities to learn new systems in interesting environments.
The challengesBeing located remotely, sometimes it was hard not having an immediate resource for assistance as they were all in another state but it was still a good team.

The good thingsSome flexibility with hours
The challengesPaid below minimum wage as a sub contractor - paid for word count per assignment but the hourly rate is abysmal. No support. Rude staff. High turnover of employees for a reason.

Really poor remuneration and not an enjoyable experience.
The good thingsAbility to work from home was the best thing. Their IT department was excellent with issues relating to remote workers too.
The challengesLack of communication, lack of progression, lack of training, too competitive to get work and the company made it hard for remote workers. There was a revolving door of management and a cyclical availability of regular work.

A short term fix if you are a student looking for some cash. Career position forget it.
The good thingsAs a temporary position for anyone who wants a simple typing position it could be a good fit. Students looking for work experience in law etc....
The challengesManagement very light on skills and proficient, in creating a poor culture. Staff turnover is huge for these reasons.

Good people, interesting job, need better management
The good thingsColleagues are great, role very interesting. Work/life balance is good too: overtime not expected and you can leave work at work.
The challengesSystems a bit old and need updating. Big learning curve. Really need managers who are going to work on changing things for the better.

    Innovation and purpose
The good thingsFrom my experience so far, senior management is customer-centred, so appreciative of the staff and open to ideas on how to improve things. The culture is very much focused on continuous improvement - and we're innovating an industry that needs to be modernised. I find great purpose having a clear vision from leadership and working towards making the justice system better and more accessible to everyone. I also have some amazingly talented colleagues, most have been with the company for upwards of 5 years, some even 40 years!
The challengesAs with any rapidly growing company, there are some growing pains, but every challenge presents opportunity for improvement.

    Exciting on a daily basis!
The good thingsAuscript has provided me with many opportunities in my time as an employee. Thinking outside the box, collaboration and personal development are very much encouraged and rewarded. Unlike other workplaces, you have the ability to work directly with senior management on a daily basis - this is rewarding on many levels.
The challengesChallenging for people who are new to the Legal industry – steep learning curve but you are supported by all departments.

Toxic environment in just about every department
The good thingsThe people you work alongside come together and take care of each other, providing the support a stressful environment such as this requires
The challengesConstant changes in management Massively high turnover - many departments have no experts as their staff leave so fast they can't gain knowledge Little room for career development Focus on all the wrong things - letting important skills and quality of work fall through the cracks in favour of on-time delivery Constant increase in workload without an increase in staff or support

Really interesting, challenging role; interesting, diverse colleagues; and immediate supervisors who are clever, accomplished and very decent human beings
The good thingsFlexible working hours (but not 24x7); fabulous immediate supervisors; senior management has a good vision and grasp on driving the business forward, both locally and internationally
The challengesSome roles mean that you need to take responsibility for your own development - support is there, but you need to take responsibility for developing the lines of communication

    Interesting role, little reward.
The good thingsThe view from the office is great.
The challengesNo career plan or progression, several team members received no annual raise whatsoever, factional politics within management hamstrings day to day operations.
