A great place to grow your career while working on projects that are genuinely shaping Australia.
The good thingsThe variety of work is excellent. In my communications role I get to work across the website, social media and content, so no two weeks look the same. It’s rewarding to tell the story of major infrastructure and energy projects like M80 Ring Road, HumeLink East and the Shepparton Line Upgrade, and to see the real impact they have on communities. The team is supportive and collaborative, and you’re trusted to take ownership of your work and bring new ideas to the table. Being part of a global company with a strong focus on sustainability also gives the work a clear sense of purpose.
The challengesAs a large global organisation, some processes and approvals can take time, and coordinating across several business lines and stakeholders requires patience. Workload can also peak around major project milestones and announcements, so good planning is important.

Avoid the Alkimos project at all cost!
The good thingsSome colleagues were good. Pay was ok. Annual bonus was an additional perk.
The challengesExtremely toxic workplace, particularly on the Alkimos project. Poor leadership, little direction, excessive pressure and virtually no work-life balance. In my experience, senior management showed little accountability, while employees were treated as disposable. HR offered little meaningful support and appeared more focused on protecting the business than its people. Some practices raised serious ethical concerns. Easily the worst professional experience of my career. I would strongly discourage anyone from working here without thoroughly investigating the culture and management first.

Toxic work environment with terrible upper management.
The good thingsPays reasonably well but there are better jobs for comparable salary.
The challengesExtremely toxic environment, long hours, intimidation tactics from upper management with jobs being threatened regularly and high turnover of staff. Upper management blame everyone but themselves, sack skilled employees with no notice, not even allowing them to collect personal belongs. As a result of this all skilled staff have either left or are in the process of leaving.
