Aerosol Line Setter / Canmaking Technician

NCI Packaging is seeking an experienced Aerosol Line Setter / Canmaking Technician to join our Preston manufacturing team.

This is an opportunity for a highly skilled canmaking professional who enjoys working with high-speed production equipment, solving complex mechanical problems, and driving world-class manufacturing performance.

About the Role

You will be responsible for setting, optimising and troubleshooting our high-speed aerosol can production lines to ensure maximum safety, quality, productivity and equipment reliability.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up and optimising aerosol can manufacturing equipment

  • Diagnosing mechanical and process faults quickly and effectively

  • Minimising downtime through proactive fault finding and machine adjustments

  • Supporting production teams to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC) targets

  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives

  • Coaching and developing operators on machine settings and best practice

  • Working closely with Maintenance and Production to maximise Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)

  • Maintaining high standards of product quality and line performance

About You

You are a hands-on technical specialist who enjoys solving problems and keeping production running efficiently.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience in metal can manufacturing or aerosol can production

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent fault-finding skills

  • Experience setting and optimising high-speed manufacturing equipment

  • The ability to quickly diagnose machine and process issues

  • A strong understanding of quality requirements in can manufacturing

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement

  • The ability to remain calm under pressure while making sound technical decisions

Highly Regarded Experience

Experience operating or setting equipment such as:

  • Soudronic welders

  • Lanico seamers

  • Leak testers

  • Flangers

  • Neckers

  • Beaders

  • High-speed conveying systems

  • Automated inspection equipment

Experience within the metal packaging industry will be highly regarded.
