We’ve been passionate about shoes for a very long time.Since 1912 to be exact, starting as a family business dedicated to designing high quality fashion footwear that not only looks beautiful but makes you feel it too. We’ve always believed in the unmistakable power of wearing the right shoe. Nothing completes a look more perfectly or makes you walk taller. And over a century later, nothing’s really changed. Except the latest runway trends we interpret in our collections each season, and our company size.Source: This is an extract from the company's own website.

What’s it like working at Wittner?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Wittner appreciate the supportive team environment and family-like culture, as well as the employee discount on products. Working at Wittner provides opportunities to develop customer service and communication skills, and the company offers flexible schedules that can accommodate students' timetables.

However, there are some potential challenges, such as issues with management, including a lack of communication and support from head office. Additionally, there can be an expectation to work when sick or during weekends and holidays for some roles. Opportunities for career progression may also be limited, particularly outside of the Melbourne head office.

What was one of the best companies I worked for has now become the worst. Management have a complete disregard for retail staffs feelings.
    The good thingsMaking lifelong friends!
The challengesWorking with difficult management, being a casual but being made to feel guilty for needing time off. No support from head office.

Great opportunity if you're looking for a job while you're studying, but not good to work long-term if you don't plan to stay in retail.
The good thingsThe team members that you get to work with as they were always very supportive and willing to help. It is also a great opportunity to develop your customer service, communication skills and relationships with staff and customers. If you're a currently a student studying (preferably university or TAFE), it's a great job as it is quite flexible and can accomodate to your timetables. Of course, the shoe discount!
The challengesThere's not many opportunities for career development/career growth, unless you live in Melbourne (where the Head Office is located) or you plan to work in retail for the rest of your life. There's a lack of communication from Head Office and the retail staff on plans and what they want - leading to a lot of mixed communication and confusion. Also very difficult to find staff to cover shifts when someone gets sick.
