What’s it like working at Simson Cards?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Simson Cards offers employees the opportunity to work with high-quality products in premium retail locations such as David Jones and Myer. Staff appreciate the flexible working hours that enable work-life balance, and many enjoy the positive atmosphere in store locations.

However, there are areas for improvement including the need for enhanced training and development opportunities, more consistent management communication, and better allocation of working hours to complete tasks. The business experiences significant seasonal pressures during peak periods such as Christmas and Mother's Day, when additional support would be beneficial.

Toxic leadership culture with extreme micromanagement
The good thingsThe design and finished art team is made up of extremely talented, kind and supportive women - genuinely the only positive part of the experience.
The challengesLeadership constantly interrupts, overrides, and changes direction verbally with no documentation, making accountability and clarity impossible. Extreme micromanagement (including dictating the literal wording of emails). Regular outbursts, swearing, and emotionally volatile behaviour from the CEO creates an unsafe and unpredictable environment. HR support is minimal, workplace concerns are not meaningfully addressed. No flexibility in work arrangements and no consideration given to personal wellbeing or modern workplace standards. Collaboration between team members is discouraged - even basic team conversation is policed. Very limited perks compared to other studios in the industry and area. No creative autonomy or growth - the role is execution-only with no path to progression or development.
