The mid 1990s saw the opening of Ruswin PNG and Mount Isa operations while Ruswin Indonesia opened its doors in the late 90s and Rockhampton a couple of years later. Recognition that locksmithing was more of a trade than a craft led to the business taking on apprentices who, after completing a four year mechanical engineer’s course, were awarded industry recognized Trade Certificates. Ruswin have successfully trained over 100 apprentices, many of whom have attained the top level qualification of master locksmith.The Ruswin Group currently employs around 150 people. During 2011 Nikki Bornis, was awarded the Australia and New Zealand Apprentice of the Year award. She was also voted the 2012 Australian Locksmith of the Year and these days leads Ruswin’s locksmith training division.
