Good, but it was time to move on
The good thingsI worked at MSD for over five years and there were many things I genuinely enjoyed about my time there. I had a pretty good manager for much of my time and really appreciated the flexible working arrangements. The salary was great and I worked with some lovely people, which made it an enjoyable place to work for many years.
Overall, I have many good memories of my time there and met some wonderful people.
The challengesOver time, the additional hours became excessive. There was no time in lieu or extra pay, and eventually I became tired of feeling taken for granted. I was also disappointed by the lack of opportunities to progress or move into something different within the organisation.
I was made redundant along with many members of my team. The way the redundancy was handled was disappointing. It was announced through an organisation chart, leaving people to work out for themselves who had been impacted.
It has strong focus on committees, awareness initiatives and workplace celebrations. Some people will absolutely love that culture, personally I found the constant focus on celebrating or recognising something every week a little excessive.
Initially, I upset about my redundancy. Now that I have moved to another large pharmaceutical company, I can see that it was a good time to part ways. I have more opportunities ahead of me and receive time in lieu when I work additional hours.

The challengesIMO, burn you up and spit you out, awful culture, and expectations of working 24/7 versus salary are not sustainable, absolutely no work life balance, aggressive HR.

They have managers that are beyond a joke and not at all suited to their positions to the point they are more detrimental have have killed any confidence and morale with the staff.
Company would rather spend tens of thousands of dollars on useless things rather than things that would keep the "low level" employees happy, you know the ones that actually try to keep the place running, then make excuses that things weren't in the budget.
MSD took over the company I worked at, then proceeded to change things up, for the worse. They took what was once a respected company in the industry and turned it into a joke.
If your company ever gets bought out by MSD, be warned, these clowns will most likely run it into the ground with their absolute garbage ways of doing things.
