if you are looking at a receptionist position, look somewhere else, the pay does't cover the stress. The good thingsthe bright side was that the coworkers are mostly lovely, incredibly supportive and willing to let you shadow them if what you are interested in is career growth.
The challengesIt felt impossible to do anything correctly. Instructions were vague or nonexistent, the management made it difficult to feel like you were performing adequately, I was given no guidance, trained by a receptionist who had been there a month and essentially left to my own devices. despite numerous attempts to ensure I was adequately following through on expectations and tasks were being completed accurately, almost all that I received was harsh criticism and "we don't do that here" with absolutely no formal training or correcting. The owner appears to be a dictator, every one of his staff is horrified of him and he throws a tantrum at least once a week. the majority of senior management lacked any backbone when it came to defending me for a mistake that someone above me had made, leaving me humiliated, verbally mistreated and left to pick up all of the pieces while my supervisor sat back and relaxed. It's impossible to feel comfortable in this job unless you enjoy being disrespected.
