I gained some useful experience but I was treated very unfairly with no possibility of recourse. SadThe good thingsThe onboarding process at the time was straightforward enough. The colleagues were almost all pleasant people to work with and for those who were offensive (only 1) I had methods to express grievances available to redress the situation. The role had variety and I was inducted into a number of procedures and systems which have proved to be essential for the progress of my career. I gained a lot of experience with new types of library technology.
The challengesI had one work health and safety issue which I addressed as per protocol. I was asked for a medical certificate. I provided that medical certificate so that the WH&S could be addressed as my employer required. I was suspended from work for 2 weeks while they reviewed that certificate. In the end, instead of making the accommodation to fix the WH&S problem, the employer decided to terminate my role, which was most shocking and disappointing and also contradicting their own promises.
