What’s it like working at Goodstart Early Learning?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Employees value the supportive and friendly teams at Goodstart Early Learning, along with above-award pay rates and good benefits. Many appreciate the meaningful purpose of supporting children's development, the availability of training and professional development opportunities, and working in well-resourced centres that enable quality curriculum delivery.

However, there are some potential challenges, including variability in management support and leadership quality across different centres and teams. High staff turnover in some locations can impact workload, and employees note that workload can be demanding during busy periods with pressure to meet targets. Recruiting quality educators can also be challenging in some centres.

Good colleagues and WFH flexibility, but a rigid management culture.
The good thingsGood work-from-home arrangement, a strong focus on child safeguarding, supportive stakeholders, and a nice team to work with.
The challengesManagement could be more supportive, flexible and transparent. Expectations can feel unrealistic, with limited flexibility or genuine support beyond formal HR processes. The culture can be quite rigid, hierarchical and secretive, and I felt there was limited psychological safety around speaking up, asking questions or challenging the status quo. During my short time with the team, six people left, which raised concerns for me around retention and leadership. A more open, human and supportive approach from upper management would improve the employee experience.

Started off great. But turned terrible towards the end.
The good thingsGood pay and the team were great
The challengesGoodstart don’t care about your career progression, they will move your centre if that’s what suits them. Always expected to meet labour and debt. Deffiently not ran like a not for profit

Stay well away from QPP at Goodstart if you care about your mental health.
The good thingsSometimes there was fruit in the staffroom, and you could take one piece every week.
The challengesI was transferred into the QPP team wanting to do a contribute to a program I genuinely believed in. Instead, I experienced a culture where one person appeared to have all control over who was supported and who succeeded. I experienced being singled out, undermined and made to feel that speaking up only made it worse. What was particularly concerning was the lack of meaningful support when serious concerns were raised. Going higher up did not result in being heard or protected, even now. The impact on my wellbeing was significant. I still want a career in early childhood, but my experience has completely changed my perspective, as I perceived Goodstart to be a safe place. If you are considering QPP at Goodstart, ask yourself whether you are comfortable in an environment where your experience may depend heavily on one person’s approval. I would not make the same choice again.
