A supportive workplace with great people!
The good thingsI am fortunate to work with a highly supportive management team in QLD. Having leadership that’s approachable, encouraging, and genuinely invested in the team makes a big difference to my day-to-day work. I’d choose Genesis Care over other competitors largely because of the people I work with, the focus on innovation, and the quality of the doctors. The Head of Patient Services Australia has played an important role in keeping teams connected and helping us navigate change, which has made the job more enjoyable overall.
The challengesThe past year has been challenging, with a number of operational changes introduced in quick succession. It would also be valuable to hear more from people working on the ground, as feedback from those doing the job day to day can provide practical insights when it comes to creating new processes.

Incompetence on every level at its best
The good thingsA culture defined by avoidance, stagnation, and a complete blueprint for what not to do in business. It became pretty clear, pretty quickly, that this wasn’t just a workplace having a rough patch—this was a full-blown lesson in how a business falls apart from the inside out. Avoidance wasn’t the exception; it was the standard operating procedure. Decisions were pushed back endlessly, as if making a call might cause the whole place to implode. Accountability was treated like something you’d cross the street to avoid, and any sign of initiative was quietly shut down by layers of pointless process and people more interested in keeping things comfortable than keeping things functional
The challengesStaff are constantly pushed to work outside their scope of practice, propped up by an HR team that can’t seem to grasp even the basic interpretation of awards. The management, inept at best, actively breeds incompetence, creating a culture where ignorance isn’t just tolerated—it’s the norm. Accountability is non-existent. No one takes responsibility, and no one is expected to. All the while, the organisation hides behind shiny new buildings and glossy façades, hoping the fresh paint will distract from the rot underneath. It’s a backwards way of thinking—trying to attract staff with appearances instead of fixing the very real problems that drive good people away.
