Unsupportive, strong favouritism and lacking empathy from management
The good thingsMy immediate colleagues were hard working and supportive. The patients were wonderful to work with making the job feel meaningful.
The challengesThe educators picked favourites and if you weren’t one, you would get no support and only reprimanded if things weren’t done a certain way/how they would prefer you do them. They would neglect communicating information to you and put the blame on the employee if the information was missed.
Management was much the same, unsupportive and would have favourites they would focus energy on, meaning other new employees were left drowning without any support. The NUM sitting across from an employee would not speak a word or make eye contact with an employee for 2 weeks while sending emails with communication to them that way.
You were rushed on phone calls especially with patients who needed emotional support, purely because the workload was too much. You were then reprimanded for showing compassion to these people and spending too long on a call with them.
Roles were given to employees who weren’t supported or educated enough by the team to carry these duties out.
