Would not go back...The good things-Giving people an opportunity with no or limited experience driving a truck/sweeper
-casual employment
-paid inductions for different sites
- if you get put on a site that requires a sweeper constantly... STAY THERE!!! Build the relationship with the customer so you are requested back
The challenges- very limited training given
- trucks are always breaking down, which can also mean no work
- trucks are based in Dandenong
- no support from management with and no safety meetings
- continuous turnover of managers and drivers
- the nature of being casual also means you don't always get shifts
- sometimes not having the correct information when it comes to doing jobs.
If you want a Job that is autonomous and didn't mind travelling to pick up a
truck then the position is fine. Don't rely on mangers saying that they are going to do something to help you as it almost never happens.
