What’s it like working at Costco?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Employees appreciate the excellent pay and benefits at Costco, which are above industry standards and include perks like optical cover and free membership. The friendly and supportive colleagues create a positive team environment, and there are opportunities for career growth across different departments. The company also offers job stability and promotes an inclusive workplace where everyone is treated fairly.

However, there are some potential challenges, including upper management being disconnected from floor staff and inconsistent support. Work/life balance can be difficult due to rotating rosters and weekend work expectations. Some employees experience a high-pressure environment with demanding customers, and training may be limited once in role.

Don't do it to yourself, the money isn't worth it
The good thingsThe above award pay
The challengesReal lack of support for staff. Management won't listen to any one below them. HR don't care. Culture is trying to do the least amount of work for the most amount of money. And it's totally fine to berate, scream swear and lie to staff in this hostile toxic workplace. Avoid at all costs if you want to be mentally stable. None of this warrants the pay

A good stop along the way, but not a permanent home.
The good thingsThe store in question has now moved to Ardeer, but the colleagues and the camaraderie/overall environment was mostly upbeat and hands off as long as things were on schedule. Night-time pay was good. Very average during daytime hours. Fairly flexible approach to paid leave periods.
The challengesInconsistent rostering. Sometimes supervisors would request employees show up to work mere hours ahead of time. High turnover of supervisors/low level management made it difficult to get a consistent read on expectations from higher up the chain. Some went above and beyond to help floor staff but did not seem to be appreciated for their efforts by upper management. Speaking of upper management, they're very disconnected from the peons at the bottom. A lot of lip service paid when obvious problems were presented (such as an infestation damaging stock) but next to nothing was actually done, as that would harm profits. Bottled water prices were doubled in reaction to the recycling contribution scheme with no warning, forcing stockers to handle disgruntled customers.
