What’s it like working at Colonial First State?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Employees at Colonial First State appreciate their colleagues and team members, who are supportive, friendly, and create a strong sense of camaraderie. The flexible working arrangements and hybrid working options allow employees to work from home and adjust their schedules as needed. The office location is convenient and accessible, and some employees find the salary and bonuses to be competitive with good yearly bonuses available.

However, there are some potential challenges to consider. Management approaches can vary, with some employees experiencing a focus on performance metrics and cost-saving measures, as well as micromanagement in certain roles. Career development opportunities may require strategic networking to progress. Some roles involve heavy workloads with long hours and demanding KPIs, particularly during peak periods. The technology and systems are being modernised, with some legacy systems still in use. The company has undergone significant organisational changes, including divestment and restructuring, and some departments face resource constraints that can impact project delivery and daily operations.

    A toxic workplace to avoid.
The good thingsFellow colleagues and staff that I collaborated with and team outings.
The challengesA very toxic work culture and environment, favoritism or nepotism, as well as unequal treatment of employees or staff. I don't believe improvement is even an option as these issues have been going on for a while since my time at CFS, I believe they are well-rooted into the organisation and they way it functions.

Terrible place to work and will crush strong souls.
The good thingsA tough place to work (management are in it for themselves) where staff band together to survive and keep their sanity.
The challengesEverything needs improving. Managers behave appallingly and are in it for themselves. Everyone else is there for managers to walk all over.

Toxic culture, overworked and disconnected managers bringing in unqualified mates into cushy roles.
The good thingsCFS was a great place to work before they got taken over by KKR and started stripping the company of quality workers with knowledge and team values. Hybrid working is good so you don't have to be in toxic office every day.
The challengesThe culture is toxic and most managers are only in it for themselves. There are some departments that are still ok but avoid Marketing.
