We are the world's largest, and Australia's only, peer-to-peer wagering platform.Unlike bookmakers or totes, we are a marketplace where supply meets demand. This means the markets are dynamic, fluid and efficient, which results in better value for our customers with better odds at low margins. We are also different to the rest of the wagering industry as we gain revenue through charging a small commission when a customer wins. So, unlike with the bookies, our customers don't get shut off or restricted for winning, in fact quite the opposite, we want our customers to win!Our purpose is to empower customers with a different betting experience.

What’s it like working at Betfair?

    AI summary of recent reviews
Employees consistently praise the supportive team culture at Betfair, where colleagues help each other and create a positive environment. Management is generally described as approachable and invested in staff development, with opportunities for career growth available for those who seek them. The perks and benefits are appreciated, and the work itself is engaging, particularly for those interested in sports and racing, with good work/life balance and flexibility.

However, there are some potential challenges, including systems that can feel outdated, though improvements are being made. Some employees have noted inconsistencies in management quality and decision-making processes. The complexity of Betfair's product can take time to learn, and weekend work is sometimes required, though scheduling flexibility is offered where possible.

I love this company very much.
The good thingsWork life balance Ethical
The challengesNot much room for growth, a real support to get more promotions would put this company at the top. Not just at same role without any assistance on where to improve to get promotions.

Recommend in a heartbeat. Team and managers are good.
The good thingsManagement is approachable, backs their staff, and invests in developing people who want to grow. If you're interested in taking on new challenges or progressing your career, there are opportunities available, and you'll be supported along the way. Not just in Darwin. The team culture is one of the biggest strengths. Everyone is willing to help each other, making it a positive environment where you can learn and succeed. They also ensure the perks aren’t just a ‘pizza party’ here and there as a reward, it is consistent and supportive. Betfair itself is also interesting, so there's always something new to learn, which keeps the role interesting. Overall, it's a supportive workplace with strong leadership, great colleagues, and genuine opportunities for development.
The challengesThe systems can feel a bit old however many have improved even in the last couple of years, the leaders take feedback seriously which is awesome. Working some weekends can get to some people but they try to balance work/life when rostering where possible and swaps are an option.

Amazing Place to be the best, and it's the most "consumer" friendly in the industry
The good thingsThe overall experience of entering a brand-new industry with zero knowledge and being welcomed with full support has been excellent. New management is good and supports all staff members equally. If you seek out further career developments, this is a great place as they have many things to offer.
The challengesIf you weren't good mates with old leadership, it was a painful experience.
