What’s it like working at Atlantic Group?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Atlantic Group offers employees the opportunity to work with friendly colleagues at prestigious events in high-quality venues. Staff appreciate the competitive pay rates and the chance to be involved in significant events like the Formula 1 and Melbourne Cup Carnival.

However, there are areas for improvement in the company's operations. The communication systems between management and staff could be enhanced, particularly regarding shift details and roster changes. Some employees report challenges with payroll administration and the irregular hours typical of event work. The management structure could be strengthened to provide more consistent support to staff.

Horrible management, no acknowledgment of your existence and rude.
The good thingsSome of my colleagues and being at an event
The challengesManagement is horrible. No clear communication in advance. When you arrive there is no manager and no one knows anything. So you’re dependant on other colleagues who figured stuff out by themselves to tell you where to go, what to do and to clock in. 90% of staff just ignore you or tell you they don’t know anything. When the managers pass by they don’t even acknowledge you nor present themselves. So you have no idea who is responsible and who to talk to. I was told i would have kitchen hand duties but ended up just doing dishes, bins and runner jobs. The runners also ended up just doing dishes. While you’re in the kitchen the managers offer coffee or snacks to chefs and never offer stewards or runners anything. It’s like you don’t exist. So you’re unaware of what’s allowed or not so you just wing it. There is so many staff for ridiculous jobs. The chefs do all kitchen hand jobs and 50% is disrespectful. Food is out too long. we have to guide other staff which isnt our responsibility.

The worst company I’ve worked for an event.
The good thingsThe gave us a free sandwich and water.
The challengesMy experience working with Atlantic Group at the Formula 1 event was very disorganised. Communication before the shift was poor. I messaged my contact the day before asking where to go but never received a response, and the staff portal only showed the shift time with no location instructions. I arrived at 9:00am for a 10:30am shift but spent over an hour walking around trying to find the correct entrance because many gates were closed and directions were unclear. When I finally arrived, staff couldn’t find my mandate and sent me back and forth between accreditation points before eventually assigning me a random one. We were also never told in advance that we would need hair, makeup and uniforms done onsite, which took hours. Despite arriving early, I didn’t actually start work until 1:00pm and none of that time was paid. For such a major event, the organisation and communication should be much better.

Extremely poor communication, quite rude and dismissive in front of other staff
The good thingsI have not had a positive experience joining up to work for this company
The challengesRocked up to an information night after completing all inductions and having shifts on my roster, only to be told they’d been wiped because of a “mandatory Friday shift” that was not very well communicated. The company had allowed you to pick your own shifts to then tell you that wasn’t their process and continue to gaslight me in front of an entire line of people. Staff claimed they contacted me but had zero evidence of any written correspondence or voicemail. When I asked what the point of me being there was, I was met with silence. No apology. No explanation. Just rude, dismissive behaviour in front of other workers. Several people were treated the same way. For a company this big, the communication and professionalism from Atlantic Group is honestly embarrassing. They have since cancelled my application and have avoided communication with me directly
