What’s it like working at ASIC?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees appreciate the friendly and supportive colleagues at the operational level, along with excellent work/life balance and flexibility, including work-from-home options. The benefits package is highly valued, featuring 15.4% superannuation and salary packaging options. Staff also enjoy opportunities for learning and development through training courses and study assistance programmes, as well as diversity and inclusion initiatives. Many find the work meaningful, contributing to the public interest and supporting the Australian economy.

However, there are some potential challenges, including concerns about management at senior levels, with some employees noting inexperience and inconsistent decision-making. Some teams experience a political environment with micromanagement and limited autonomy. Bureaucracy can slow processes, and there may be resistance to change in certain areas. Employees also mention pressure to meet KPIs with tight timelines, while career progression can be slow and pay levels may be lower than comparable private sector roles.

The challengesAn insanely political and backstabbing culture, accompanied by an incompetent management team. The worst of Government and private sector - if you're thinking of applying, please reconsider.

Challenging experience: KPI pressure causes stress, and lunchroom is crowded and often unclean.
The good thingsNothing else, just confirming that I get paid on Tuesday.
The challenges I feel a great deal of stress and even emotional strain while trying to achieve my KPIs. I genuinely care about my work and the results, and sometimes it feels like my heart is deeply attached to meeting those goals. While this shows my dedication, it can also become overwhelming when I don’t find the right balance between effort and peace of mind. I would also like to mention a small concern about the lunchroom facilities. While the office space is large and comfortable, the lunchroom area feels quite congested and is often not as clean as it should be. Improving that space would make a big difference for staff comfort and overall morale. I believe that with a few small improvements and continued support, we can make the workplace even better for everyone. I truly value the culture of teamwork and accountability here, and I remain committed to giving my best in every task I do.
