An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Whitireia Operations of the Whitireia and WelTec Business Divisions of New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology (NZIST).
We are looking for a Kaiako on part-time basis, for our Bachelor of Nursing Māori programme to become a part of our institutions, supporting our vision and values.
A Kaiako who is passionate about applied health education. The Whitireia Bachelor of Nursing Māori programme uses a distinct Māori pedagogy that encapsulates whānau, hāpu and iwi ways of knowing.
The programme draws on both Māori and tauiwi bodies of knowledge to enhance ākonga learning and contributes to the graduate being competent and safe to practice in their communities and communities around the world.
This position is based at our Porirua campus and will provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to be part of a committed team who provide a unique educational experience to our future Māori nursing workforce.
The ideal applicant will have:
Registered Nurse with current Annual Practicing Certificate
Level 8 qualification relevant to Nursing and/or specialist clinical skills
Experience in working within clinical care settings, in particular Primary Health and Mental Health
Previous teaching experience with Māori nursing ākonga
Previous experience teaching bio-nursing
Be proficient in te reo, tikanga and mātauranga Māori
Adult teaching qualification or equivalent
Completed a Masters or working towards one
Knowledge of SmartBoards, Moodle and good ICT/systems ability or able to quickly acquire such knowledge
Be active in own whanau, hapu and iwi development
Full Clean Driver's license
