Abbey Beach Resort is a 213-room beachfront resort in Busselton, Western Australia, and we are looking for a practical, reliable and guest-focused Maintenance Technician / Handyperson to join our maintenance team.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are exactly the same. You will be responsible for carrying out preventative maintenance, general repairs and maintenance requests across the resort, including guest rooms, public areas, plant and equipment.

Because we are a busy resort, you will sometimes be required to attend to maintenance issues while guests are in their rooms. We are therefore looking for someone who is not only practical and capable, but also polite, approachable and professional, with a genuine understanding of guest service.

About the Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out preventative and routine maintenance across the resort.

• Responding to and completing maintenance requests, including guest room issues.

• Attending to maintenance requests professionally and courteously when guests are present.

• Inspecting equipment and diagnosing faults where appropriately qualified and competent.

• Repairing or replacing defective parts and equipment.

• Performing general repairs and handyman duties across the property.

• Maintaining and monitoring resort facilities, including commercial swimming pools.

• Using a range of hand tools, power tools and maintenance equipment safely.

• Assisting with basic carpentry and repairs to fixtures, fittings and structures.

• Keeping work areas clean, safe and tidy at all times.

• Reporting faults, hazards, maintenance requirements and safety issues appropriately.

• Working closely with other departments to ensure maintenance issues are resolved efficiently and with minimal disruption to guests.

• Supporting the Maintenance Manager and team with other maintenance tasks as required.

About You

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and understands that maintenance in a resort environment is about more than simply fixing things — it is also about looking after our guests and their experience.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience in maintenance, handyman, facilities or a similar role.

• Trade qualifications are highly regarded but not essential.

• Good practical and problem-solving skills.

• Confidence using hand tools, power tools and general maintenance equipment.

• Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation.

• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• The ability to work independently while also being a supportive team member.

• The ability to prioritise and manage multiple maintenance requests.

• A flexible and adaptable approach to changing priorities.

• A professional, friendly and respectful manner when interacting with guests and colleagues.

• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

You will be required to demonstrate flexibility and availability to work across a rotating roster, including morning and evening shifts, weekends and public holidays, in line with the operational needs of the resort.

Salary will be negotiated based on qualifications, relevant experience and skills.
