APS5/APS6 Graphic Designer

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Graphic Designer to join a small communications and media team. This is a 6 month contract (labour-hire) opportunity with a possible extension.

The position can be based in any Australian capital city, with the team working collaboratively across multiple locations.

Reporting to the Assistant Director you will be responsible for creating high-quality graphic design collateral across digital, social media, print and multimedia formats. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to understand briefs, develop creative concepts and translate complex information into clear, engaging and accessible visual content.

This is a great opportunity for a designer who enjoys variety, can manage multiple projects and wants to work across a broad range of communication products.

Duties

• Design and produce engaging print, digital and social media materials across multiple channels.
• Develop static, animated and multimedia content in response to client briefs.
• Translate complex information into clear and engaging visual assets using information design principles.
• Develop designed reports, publications and other communication products, including typesetting large volumes of content.
• Provide advice to internal stakeholders on visual communication and design best practice.
• Create materials that meet WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will have

• A strong portfolio demonstrating creative design capability across a range of formats and channels, including reports, publications, social media, digital content and communication products.
• Strong experience using Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
• Experience designing and typesetting reports, publications or similar content, with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience developing creative concepts and translating complex information into clear, engaging visual communications.
• Federal government experience.
