Principal Project Officer

About your role

As Principal Project Officer, you will support the planning, delivery and commissioning of complex health infrastructure projects across Metro South Health.

• Lead and contribute to complex capital projects from planning through to delivery and commissioning.
• Develop and manage project plans, schedules, risk and issue registers, budgets and governance documentation.
• Coordinate critical commissioning activities including operational readiness, testing, relocation, staging and decanting.
• Prepare business cases, reports, tender documentation, briefing notes and other high-level project correspondence.
• Engage and collaborate with clinical, operational, technical and external stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.

About you

We are looking for an experienced project professional who can confidently navigate complex environments, manage competing priorities and build strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams.

• Demonstrated high-level project management skills across complex projects.
• Strong communication, consultation, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven ability to identify risks, solve problems and develop practical solutions.
• Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to manage concurrent priorities.
• Knowledge of infrastructure commissioning, health planning, capital delivery and governance.

Metro South Health Assets and Infrastructure Unit

Metro South Health Assets and Infrastructure Unit (A&I) encompasses Strategic and Operational Asset Management, Capital Project delivery and Maintenance Services. These services enable Metro South Health to continue to expand its scope and capacity of clinical services through facility capital renewals, redevelopment, maintenance activities and lease management.

A&I undertake capital infrastructure renewal planning through to delivery and commissioning, developing prioritised business cases and delivering on the Metro South Health Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) and Asset Management and Maintenance Plan (AMMP). Various reforms across Metro South Health have allowed Metro South Health Asset and Infrastructure Services to streamline services and establish appropriate centralised functions to achieve greater economies of scale.
